[WEB ADMINISTRATOR'S NOTE: This comment was submitted by Debbie Paul]

I live at 9946 Rainier S. I may not be able to make the town hall meeting, but wanted to pass on the two concerns I have:

    1) Safety – transportation: There is no bus service from Cornell Avenue north on Rainier – it was removed when Light Rail went in. Now no one in this corridor has accessible public transportation, and can’t take the bus to the Henderson light rail. I talked to the city/bus planning folks and their recommendation was to walk to the Renton Avenue stop. Of course this is about a 1 mile walk straight uphill on Cornell Avenue (dead horse canyon) and not feasible.

    2) safety – we cannot use the sidewalk on the west side of Rainier because the hill is sliding down to Rainier. It has been this way for 25+ years. I talked to the city safety folks who said they were aware of it but there was no plan to fix it. The Safety folks said they’d include it in the safety initiative, since you can’t cross the street safely there either.

    Thanks Debbie
