On Saturday, March 23, 2019, CHAMPS Resource & Service Center (RSC) made history. CHAMPS RSC coordinated the first job fair in the gym of the Rainier Beach Community Center, since they re-opened their doors in September 2013. Recruiters from Amazon, FedEx, Seattle Public Schools, Peer Seattle, PCC Community Markets, Seattle Parks & Recreation, and many more employers were there interacting with job/internship seekers. There were potential jobs for everyone regardless of age or experience level. There were also other resources available like how to get health care, mental health counseling, and even transportation help.

The event was also sponsored by Rainier Beach Community Center, King County, Communities of Opportunity, Seattle Neighborhoods Outreach and Engagement, RBAC, Rainier Beach Merchants Association, Seattle Neighborhood Group, The Facts and Photos by Joe Lubong and Zion Thomas. This event wouldn’t have come together without the many volunteers that showed up early to set-up and stayed late to clean-up. We are grateful for everyone’s dedication and commitment to our community.

The job fair was a great way for (over 200) people in the community to connect with potential (twenty-one) employers and explore (sixteen community organizations) resources that were accessible to them. It’s especially great for the Rainier Beach Community where such resources aren’t always easily accessible.
