Way to go neighbors! King Co. posted a notice informing us about the closure of a Metro bus stop in our area (Rainier Ave. S. at S. Fisher Pl.) A resident noticed this post on her way to a Neighborhood Planning related meeting, she then told the others at the meeting about the notice. Those in attendance sprung into action immediately, using their own personal cell phones to call King Co. Metro Comment Line and made their concerns clear. Here are some of the issues brought up:
- This stop is used by many disabled residents.
- The notice at the bus stop was only provided in one language (English).
- Not consulting with residents about these transit system changes beforehand has caused great hardship for many.
The good news is; 2 days later a NEW sign was posted at the same bus stop stating that the bus stop would in fact, not be closing due to the community out pour of concern.
