Happy 2011 SouthendSeattleites!
*Sorry for the long stretch between newsletters, but wrapping up 2010 was pretty intense for those of us here on the production end of SouthendSeattle.com. Maia finished her Masters program in Integrated Marketing Communications and Daimian spent almost 3 months overseas on photo jobs. But we are so excited to take on a new year!
We have been channeling a lot of our communication efforts into FaceBook and Twitter, but as Kathy reminded us in Deadhorse Canyon today, not everyone is a “FaceBook person”. So without further adoo!
Some highlights for over our youthful 8-month existence as SouthendSeattle.com!
• Average of 1,400 visitors per month to SouthendSeattle.com.
• Over 25,000 page views on SouthendSeattle.com.
• We have had visits from 55 countries – 7 of those have been 10 times or more.
• We have 380 followers on Twitter and 259 on Facebook – most of whom are not duplicated between platforms.
• We’ve had over 40,000 page views on Facebook.
• Almost 50% of our visits are from referring sites, 40% direct and 12% from search engines.
• We started a SouthendSeattle Flickr Group about a month ago. We have already have 19 members and 250 breathtaking images of the Southend.
• We’ve partnered with folks at the MLK BA/ HomeSight, Rainier Historical Society, Rainier Valley Food Bank, Rainier Beach High School, the Southeast Seattle Senior Center, SEEDArts, and Columbia City Cinema as well as our incredible neighbors to bring amazing stories about our community to our readers.
• We donated 1100 SouthendPride wristbands at the Rainier Beach Back2School Bash sponsored by the Rainier Beach Community Empowerment Coalition.
• We recruited almost 100 people to help with pre-Thanksgiving crowds at the first annual SouthendSeattle Rainier Valley Food Bank Volunteer Day.
• We are now receiving PAID advertising in addition to ads in trade for our contributors!
• Most importantly – WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! By sharing our stories, experiences, and expertise with our neighbors, our amazing contributors have begun to actively change how
those outside of our community see us & the way we see ourselves.
So, yeah, IT’S ON!
THANK YOU, dear supporters, for keeping us pumped an on-mission to spread the love for this extraordinary community! Please keep reading, but there is more that you can do.
Consider becoming a contributor! We are thrilled to take one-time posts, or have you join our passionate group of monthly contributors. We just ask for a minimum of 3 paragraphs of original content that you think is valuable to share with others in the community. Also, don’t forget about our calendar as a resource and to share events.
Please contact us with other ideas or comments. SouthendSeattle.com belongs to YOU! Now get out there and MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS!
With bright wishes for a wonderful 2011 –
Maia & Daimian

Hi, friends, colleagues, and family. Would you please check out the
website to the Seattle Schools-UW AIM Center that is located at
Cleveland High School in Seattle (above) and put the link on your
facebook page if you like it (and if you have one)?
It is in the formative stages and we will continue to edit and
elaborate. Nonetheless, we’d like others to be able to know about it
and take a look. There are articles and tools that may be useful to
schools and districts. Thank you! Margery
