Updates on Rainier Transit Priority Corridor Improvements

Here is the most recent status on current transit projects impacting the Rainier Beach neighborhood and surrounding areas.

S Jackson Street & Maynard Avenue S (south side)
Work is substantially complete and the bus stop has been reopened.

S Jackson Street & 12th Avenue S (south side)
Work is expected to be substantially complete within 1-2 weeks. The bus stop is scheduled to re-open on October 7th.

Rainier Ave S & Martin Luther King Jr. Way (MLK) S
Work is progressing in this area. The overall project construction is still expected to be substantially complete by the end of December 2010.

Rainier Avenue S & S Genesee Street
Construction work is progressing in the area of Rainier Avenue S & S Genesee Street (west and east sides). There are temporary bus stop closures, partial traffic lane closures and parking restrictions on Rainier Avenue S, S Genesee Street and 36th Avenue S, near the work area. Access will be maintained to businesses.

Eastbound S Genesee Street is closed at Rainier Avenue S and will remain closed through October. A traffic detour will direct vehicles South to S Oregon Street and north to S Dakota Street The work is expected to take approximately 5-6 additional weeks to complete

Rainier Avenue S & 39th Avenue S
Work has started and is progressing in the area of Rainier Avenue S & 39th Avenue S. There are temporary bus stop relocations, partial traffic lane closures and/or parking restrictions on Rainier Avenue S and a full street closure on 39th Avenue S near the work area. Access will be maintained to businesses. The work is expected to take approximately 6-7 additional weeks to complete.

Rainier Avenue S & S Orcas Street
Construction work has started work in the area of Rainier Avenue S & S Orcas Street. There are temporary bus stop relocations, partial traffic lane closures and/or parking restrictions, on Rainier Avenue S and S Orcas Street, near the work area. Access will be maintained to businesses. The work is expected to take approximately 5 to 6 additional weeks to complete.

S Jackson Street & 8th Avenue S (south side) and S Jackson Street & Maynard Avenue S (north side)\
Beginning the week of October 4th construction work will begin in the area of S Jackson St at 8th Ave S, and on October 7th, at the northwest side of Maynard Ave S. Work in these areas is expected to take 5 to 6 weeks to complete.
