Event Description
Rainier BAAMFest (Beach Arts & Music Fest) is a signature event of the Rainier Beach Merchants Association, and the next generation of community arts celebration in Rainier Beach, focusing on the rich diversity of cultures and creativity in our midst with a high level of community involvement in the planning and execution of the event. This event follows in the footsteps of Art Walk Rainier Beach and Summerfest which were previously produced by Rainier Beach Merchants Association and SEEDArts.
BAAMFest 2017 drew crowds that some estimated were 10,000 Strong. Positive press coverage reached an all-time high for Rainier Beach as a result of this event, and the community is anticipating another excellent event in 2017.

This event is produced through grants as well as fundraising for additional grants, and through private sponsorship.

The aim of the Rainier Beach Merchants Association is to activate the business district though programs and projects to enhance walkability and engagement in community spaces. Created in 1991, RBMA consists of an executive board and nearly 70 members who own businesses, live, work, or do business in Rainier Beach, and support our mission of promoting the general welfare of Rainier Beach Square businesses and residents.

RBMA produces highly-engaging community events and programs, such as the former Art Walk Rainier Beach, a staple annual event established in 2011. The intent of this event is to celebrate the beautiful and vibrant community, bring together diverse attendees from both within and outside the Rainier Beach community to highlight local culture and Rainier Beach business district.

Job Description Work under direction of the Rainier Beach Merchants Association Community Business Manager and the Rainier Beach Rainier BAAMFest Event Committee to coordinate and implement one-day event in the Rainier Beach business district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include
.
 Assist with recruiting volunteers, vendors, performers/entertainers for the event.
 Review applications with RBMA, confirm participation, and communicate all requirements to applicant prior to event.
 Attend committee meetings as needed.
 Obtain all event permits and work with City to get streets closed if necessary.
 Execute and manage performer and vendor contracts.
 Manage equipment rental/procurement and contracts.
 Ensure performers and vendors have all pertinent information prior to event.
 Create event packets for Vendors for day of event.
 Report and respond to issues in timely manner.
 Production of event plan layout and placement of all events, vendors, signage, equipment, etc.
 Coordinate all day-of-event activities and be in attendance at event to oversee details.
 Draft a final report evaluation including lessons learned and outlining suggested best practices.

Requirements

 3 years experience coordinating community events
 Connections to Southeast Seattle Community Groups
 Team player, excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
 Creative, energetic, flexible
 Experience managing volunteers
 Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
 Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
 Ability to think and work under pressure
 Willing to work evenings/weekends as required.
