This past weekend, our YATTA’s attended the Black is Back event, which was hosted by the UW Seattle Black Student Union (BSU). The event was put on as a joint effort to provide a community-building space for Black students on campus. Sprawling across the infamous Red Square were information & resource booths, Black student vendors, and live performances, all of which our YATTAs said created a welcoming and engaging environment. Not only was it a good time, the Black is Back event also provided an opportunity for our YATTAs to engage with other young adults in the organizing space and to share about the amazing work they’re doing in the South End. It’s in moments like these that we can clearly see the exponential, positive impact of investing in the young adults in our neighborhood. As we say here at RBAC, these youth are the truth, and because of that, we must support them in bringing to life their vision for the future of Rainier Beach.
