In April, 2020, the YATTA Rising work consisted of two Wellness Core workshops and two system change circles. The Wellness Core workshops covered the domains of economic development and safety. The economic development workshop was led by local nonprofit founder Elijah Lewis, of Flourish Financial Group, and the topic was “Read The Fine Print” using smartphone security as an example of how important it is to read the fine print on contracts of all types–including purchases of cars, phones, computers, auto insurance, and bank accounts. The System Change Circles were entitled: “Is It Possible,” CPR Training, and “Strategy.” These sessions are collectively intended to prepare young adults transitioning to leadership for system change work as it relates to Seattle Police Department policy.
