I am very pleased to announce the winners of the Waste Management Recycling Challenge. As many of you know we here at the Rainier Beach Community Club voted to take on the Recycling Challenge as our first group project. With the help of the Recycling Committee, which is headed by Kathie Wiebel, we took on many projects to achieve our goal. We contacted and worked with other communities, including the Filipino Community and Tools for Grads out of Rainier Beach High. We did out reach in our neighborhood and had a flash mob at the corner of Rainier and Henderson.
And it all paid off!
We are the proud winners of this Recycling Campaign. Good work rainier Beach! This will mean Waste Management will provide $50,000 to be used for improvement projects in our neighborhood. There will be a ceremony to award the “prize” on Thursday May 17 at 12 noon at the VFW Hall (where our meetings are) at 6038 S Pilgrim Street. We would love a good turnout to this event, since there will be press attending. This is a great way to show off the community involvement we have here in Rainier Beach. Please let us know if you can attend. Also see below for a way to submit your project ideas.
Congratulations to us as a community and thanks so much to all of you that helped in this endeavor.
