On April 26, the Seeds of Change Network held its second annual Youth Food Justice Town Hall, marking the first event hosted at the Rainier Beach Food Innovation Center!
We had a fantastic time in the community, giving people their flowers and gathering community input for the Hutchinson Park art development and the Seattle School Meals & Education Working Group priorities. One highlight of the day was the screening of the first episode of the Seeds of Change Farmer Talk Story Documentary Series, followed by a Q&A panel featuring our Food Justice Fellows. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch from Spice Walaa and closed the day with a fun game of musical chairs.
We also have exciting news: our Seeds of Change Farmer Talk Story Documentary Series film will be going on tour!Â
Join us at the Langston Hughes 2025 Black Nerd Festival on May 24 at 4:30 p.m. and at the Union Cultural Center later this summer.
Should we have another premiere day? Reach out to us if you have any suggestions. 🙂Â
We are also pleased to announce that we will continue another series of talk stories this summer with our farmers! As federal funding gets cut, our work and the support of the community are more crucial than ever.
As always, support your local farmers, eat locally and seasonally, and come to the Rainier Beach Food Innovation Center to get involved with the local food system.
