As we approach the start of the 2025 Farm Stand season and all the energy, excitement, and to-dos that come with that, we’ve been looking back on last year’s season with so much gratitude and awe.
Last year, through the dedication of our team, the generosity of our farmers, and the support of our volunteers, we were able to distribute over $360,000 worth of produce to Rainier Beach and surrounding communities. That means that through the operation of our Farm Stand & CSA programs, we are not only providing valuable jobs and job training to neighborhood youth, but we are also putting that $360,000 directly back into the households of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Immigrant farmers in King County.
Since the end of last year’s Farm Stand season, we’ve been dreaming, planning, and taking action in big ways to ensure that this year’s season is even more impactful for the people in our community. Even with this year’s tumultuous political landscape and the devastating nationwide impacts we’ve already witnessed of insecure federal and state funding, our goal remains to provide affordable access to healthy produce and a secure source of income for our farmers.
We’ll be kicking off the 2025 Farm Stand season with a ‘Soft Launch’ orientation day on June 7th for our beloved volunteers and then with our first official Farm Stand of the year on June 14th! As usual, our Farm Stand is open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until we run out of produce (which rarely happened last season – yay for abundance!). There is always a decent line, and since that portion is outside on MLK Jr. Way, we do recommend bringing an umbrella, wearing a hat, and bringing some water to stay cool! Bringing reusable bags to take your produce home is encouraged!
Another great way to access our produce is by becoming a subscriber to our weekly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program. CSA subscribers receive boxes of fresh produce on a weekly basis, purchased through a pay-what-you-can model. Free delivery is available for those in the 98118 area, and a variety of pick-up options are available for those outside our delivery zone.
NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
This year, we are seeking available volunteers to come help pack CSA boxes during the week! If you’d like to be one of our incredible Farm Stand or CSA volunteers, we are always in need of extra hands during this fun-filled, fast-paced season! Sign up to volunteer now!
We can’t wait to see you in the neighborhood this summer!
