The Children’s Alliance is hosting one-day advocacy trainings in three communities across Washington state. Every child in Washington should have a great childhood, full of opportunities to reach their vast potential. Public policy should protect kids, advance opportunity and equity, and help build strong families. People who care about kids can make a difference by speaking up and getting involved in advocacy.

Come learn how your leadership can motivate lawmakers to make decisions that make life better for all of Washington’s kids. In this interactive training, you will learn to:

• Communicate with elected officials
• Create an effective key message
• Build community and network
• Understand the legislative process

Also, participants will have an opportunity to network with other advocates and learn more about other advocacy efforts across the state. By the end of the training, individuals will go home with new advocacy skills, new ideas for advocacy efforts, and probably a new friend. To participate, submit an application.

Trainings are limited to Washington state adult residents. In order to attend, you must be an online member of the Children’s Alliance. It’s free to sign up.

The Children’s Alliance recognizes and honors diversity. We seek to reflect diversity in our participants. We highly encourage parents/guardians of children personally affected by Children’s Alliance policy issues to apply. We want participants committed to advocating for policies that benefit children. We encourage applicants to join with others and apply as a group.

Cost for the training is $100.00 for Children’s Alliance online members and $75.00 for current Children’s Alliance organizational members (staff, board, and volunteers). Training costs include all materials and lunch. For participating organizations, the training cost can be applied to offset a portion of the cost of membership for new or renewing Children’s Alliance organizational members.

Scholarships, child care assistance, travel reimbursements, and interpretation services are available. Please do not let cost keep you from applying.
