The Seattle Youth Commission (SYC, formerly the Mayor’s Youth Council) connects and engages Seattle’s youth in the City’s civic participatory process, exposing our elected officials to the voices and perspectives of YOUTH.
This is a great opportunity for young people to develop their leadership, facilitation and public speaking skills and network with City Lawmakers, local community leaders, and other youth!!!
Youth Commissioners are expected to:
- organize a series of youth community meetings
- research, construct, and present policy recommendations to the Seattle Mayor and City Council
- take part in the planning the annual Seattle Youth Town Hall
Check out more information about the Seattle Youth Commission here.
If you have some students you think would be interested in this program or who you think would particularly benefit from this program, please connect them to this opportunity!!!
FYI- Youth Commissioners have the potential to earn 60+ Service Learning Hours through their involvement in SYC.
