Here at RBAC, our youth are our stewards in leading this branch! They lead work in sharing resources that help bridge information gaps in the neighborhood. They also do the work in food sovereignty by providing free and fresh produce at pearl activations and beautifying our neighborhood. This year, we’ve seen an incredible rise in their dedication and creativity. Their efforts are not just activities but transformative actions that bring about real change. We’re proud to witness how they inspire and mobilize the community around them.
The summer season at RBAC is our busiest season. Our schedule is packed with farm stand season, the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, various economic development events, as well as our highly anticipated Back2School Bash. Not to mention, our dedicated efforts in Youth and Neighborhood Engagement (YNE) continue to make a significant impact during this season. Our youth this year are blending their skills whether it’s jokes, their knowledge of their neighborhood, and even some saxophone playing! What makes the YNE work incredibly impactful is that it’s our kids, our kids from the neighborhood making it a beautiful safe place.
Here is a quote from Isaac, our Youth and Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator, to talk more about our activations this summer, “Fun and the sun allows youth to share the heart of the Rainier Beach with hard work and good greetings!”
The youth have always been leaders on the path to liberation and that goes the same for our YNE team. Catch them all summer on Henderson and Rose Street.
