Here are the activities that RBAC implements in regard to its Priority Hire work and getting people jobs in the construction industry, specifically in this COVID-19 era:
- Assisted at least 15 Rainier Beach residents with support services, support service navigation, and/or retention assistance. All of these people were people of color and lived in the 98118 and 98122 area codes.
- Online (website, eNews, Facebook, Twitter, email) updates. Updates include COVID-19 resources and future construction training and employment opportunities. Click the link to see the April 2020 update from April 8, 2020: https://www.rbcoalition.org/priority-hire/
- Reach out to community partners including pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, or other community-based organizations that assist clients entering construction. In April 2020, partners included ANEW https://anewaop.org/about-us/and the Arena at Seattle Center CWA Joint Administrative Committee (JAC)
- Document effective resources to share with other city-funded Priority Hire providers below. Resources may include new partnerships, funding sources, resources, etc. https://www.rbcoalition.org/resource-list-in-light-of-covid-19/
