There will be a fundraiser event this Sunday from 12-4 pm to fundraise for the future Youth Achievement Center (YAC), a space meant to provide housing and other crucial resources to young people. A collaborative effort by Creative Justice, Africatown Community Land Trust, and Community Passageways, this project has been in the works for over a year now. We are also proud to say that our YATTA’s (Young Adults Transitioning to Adulthood) were part of the youth consortium that were asked for their ideas about what the YAC should be. Some things they wanted to see were apartments for youth to live in, cafeterias for anyone to eat at, gardens with fresh fruit, and driving classes–all centered around supporting RB youth. Fatima Kabba, a member of YATTA Rising, said, “It’s just a blessing to see our ideas come to life.”
