gardenWe are just two days away from the second community meeting for the Seattle Department of Transportation’s “Trees and Sidewalks Operations Plan” along the Rainier Beach corridor. Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 11, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Rainier Beach Community Center (8825 Rainier Avenue S). As a reminder, the Operations Plan will help residents, businesses, and City departments address conflicts between trees and sidewalks in our neighborhoods, including along key corridors like Rainier Avenue.

At this meeting, we will review our assessment of the trees along the corridor and discuss the specific tools that could be used to address conflicts between trees and sidewalks along Rainier Avenue S (between S Henderson St and Seward Park Ave S). We’ll start with an overview presentation of progress to date, then we’ll provide time to dig into the specifics on a couple blocks of your choosing, looking at the ways the project team has applied the tools to come up with feasible and sustainable solutions. We will then discuss costs and phasing, as well as next steps for the Operations Plan. Your feedback is critical to the success of this effort, so please plan to join us.

If you are a member of another listserv or have your neighbors’ email addresses, please forward this invitation. We want to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the meeting and have the opportunity to participate in this planning process.
