The Youth and Neighborhood Engagement team has been working hard to make our neighborhood a beautiful, safe place. Our youth are kicking into high spirits because of the wonderful weather changes.

Now, one might ask—what have we been doing?

During April and May, the team has dedicated efforts toward the new three-stage plan of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).

Here are the stages within the plan:

  • Stage One – Clean: This is self-explanatory.
  • Stage Two – Contest: The team works to make sure the area is sustained in its state after a cleanup—if not improved.
  • Stage Three – Beautify: In this final step, we have the engagement team adding something to the neighborhood to show that “cherry on top.”

This can take the form of installations such as flowers, benches, and a soon-to-be-installed neighborhood bulletin board.
